Goldfrapp

Bunny Lake

Μια ακόμη τέτοια περίπτωση είναι και το ψυχολογικό θρίλερ του 1965 που σκηνοθέτησε ο Otto Preminger και πρωταγωνίστησε ο αξεπέραστος Lawrence Olivier.Εν έτη 2009 λοιπον το "Bunny Lake is Missing" περνάει σκηνοθετικά στον Joe Carnahan (αν δεν το γνωρίζετε εως τώρα μάλλον δεν έχετε δει το Smokin Aces αλλά don't worry σε λίγο καιρό θα είναι αυτός που θα έχει να καρατομήσει (σκηνοθετικά πάντα) μια σπουδαία ταινία (Bunny Lake is Missing) και ένα εξαιρετικό βιβλίο (White Jazz του James Elroy))που ενώ είχε την Reese Witherspoon να πρωταγωνιστεί στο ρόλο της μητέρας (την υποδυόταν εξαιρετικα η Carol Lynley) που χάνει τα ίχνη της 4χρονης κόρης της δηλώνοντας στον αστυνομικό ντετέκτιβ οτι δεν γύρισε ποτέ απο το σχολείο.Το μυστήριο της υπόθεσης όμως αρχίζεται και μεγαλώνει ύστερα απο τις έρευνες του ντετέκτιβ (Lawrence Olivier) όταν διαπιστώνει ότι δεν υπήρξε ποτέ 4χρονη κόρη και όλες οι υποψίες πέφτουν τώρα στην ψυχική και πνευματική υγεία της μητέρας...To soundtrack υπογράφει ο Paul Glass με την συμμετοχή και των Zombies σε 3 τραγούδια..enjoy it

Dark City

Funky!

Finally -- the long overdue release of one of the funkiest soundtracks ever! The music to Black Belt Jones has always been the stuff of legend -- mostly only issued as a promo single back in the 70s, but funky enough that it's ranked among the best soundtracks of the decade! The score was composed and performed by Dennis Coffey and Luchi De Jesus -- the former a funk star in his own right, the latter the composer of the ultra-hip Friday Foster soundtrack -- and together, the pair have crafted some killer grooves that mix guitars, congas, and blasting orchestrations that could plow Enter The Dragon into the dust! Plus, the soundtrack nicely mixes together bits of dialogue and sound effects from the film -- making things sound a lot like some of those cool Japanese Bruce Lee soundtracks that were floating around from years back. Titles include "Love Theme", "At The Beach", "Main Theme", "Opening Theme", "Drama", "Mafia Theme", and "Sexy".

Badalamenti

Ο Jean-Pierre Jeunet αν και αρκετά επιτυχημένος μετά απο τις δύο τελευταίες του ταινίες ."Amelie" και "Un long dimanche de fiançailles",απο το 2004 έχει πραγματικά εξαφανιστεί.Δεν ετοιμάζει απολύτως τίποτα λές και τον κατάπιε η γη.Οπότε αναγκαζόμαστε να γυρίσουμε 12 χρόνια πίσω και να ξανα-απολαύσουμε την ultimate ευρωπαϊκη ταινία φαντασίας,"The City of Lost Children" που σκηνοθέτησε ο Jeunet με τον μόνιμο συνεργάτη του Marc Caro.

Sesso Matto

Funky grooves, floating vocals, mellow keyboards, and a whole lot more -- easily one of the greatest soundtracks ever from the legendary Armando Trovajoli -- and certainly one of the grooviest too! There's a sublime quality to this score that's well made Sessomatto one of the best-remembered albums from the glory years of the Italian soundtracks -- a sense of space, pacing, and timing that are simply breathtaking -- and which are the perfect summation of Trovajoli's earlier experiments in music. As with his score to La Matriarca, the instrumentation here varies often -- sometimes a bit of horns, nicely compressed; sometimes a floating harmonica line; sometimes keyboards; and sometimes a funky rhythm topped with vocals -- all woven together in a rich pastiche of styles that makes the album one of the deepest soundtracks you'll hope to own from the time. The remastering here is wonderful -- way better than the previous Japanese reissues, and done in a way that really isolates the best elements of the music -- letting the simple balance of sound and space resonate beautifully, and exposing even more of Trovajoli's genius with a wealth of bonus tracks. These added numbers really open the whole thing up -- taking the album way past the familiar "Sessomatto" theme (reworked and remixed for the dancefloor often in later years), and almost creating a mini-movie in sound -- with all the requisite scene shifts and drama to match! CD features a whopping 41 tracks in all -- with titles that include "Sessomatto", "Signora Sono Le Otto", "Two Happy People", "Ammuri Ammuri", "D'Amore Si Muore", "Un Amore Difficile", "Due Cuori E Una Birra", "Bravo Balli bene", "Scappa Gilda", "Vorrei Che Fosse Amore", "Searching For Something", and "L'Ospite"

introducing...Roy Budd

"Roy Budd was considered a child prodigy taking up the piano at four years old and making his first public performance at six. Early on he discovered and developed a love of jazz, forming his own jazz band, The Roy Budd Trio. He left school at sixteen and started a successful career as a professional jazz pianist. His first venture into film music in 1970 is legendary, convincing director Ralph Nelson to allow him to compose a score for his new and highly controversial film Soldier Blue by giving him a tape full of less well known music by Goldsmith, Williams, Schifrin and Steiner, but passing it off as Budd’s own work. The stunning score for Soldier Blue led to many more commissions including Get Carter, The Wild Geese and Fear Is The Key. Roy Budd composed for almost fifty films, sometimes with songwriter Jack Fishman, before tragically dieing from a brain haemorrhage in 1993 just after completing his ambitious project for a new score for the 1923 silent film, The Phantom Of The Opera. "Music from the Movies"

Fear is the Key [Roy Budd] (Cinephile Records 1972) (Cinephile Records 1975)

The main theme is haunting and unmistakably Budd at his best. The second track is a masterpiece of film scoring being, one of the few instances where sound effects and music work together, covering a car chase through the bayou which lasts more than ten minutes. The screeching tyres and wailing police sirens inter-link with Roy's jazz music in a strange but compelling harmony, which does odd things to your driving skills when played in the car! The later tracks project the speed and the excitement of the film and are full of rhythm and life.

Get Carter [Roy Budd] (Castle Records 1971)

This soundtrack commission was jazz musician Roy Budd's second score and it owes much to his jazz background, with the entire score being recorded by Roy Budd's trio. The inspired use of a harpsichord for the main opening theme gives a unique, unforgettable sound which still remains fresh after nearly thirty years. However, the score includes many different musical styles, themes and songs with tracks varying from sixties ballads to the Bach influenced 'Goodbye Eric', but with a recurring jazz influence. There is not a single track on this score that will not stand alone or stand repeated listening.

Diamonds [Roy Budd] (Cinephile Records 1975)

Heist films always provided some of the best soundtracks of the 70's, and this one (starring Robert Shaw and Richard Roundtree, and issued in the US as Diamond Shaft) is no exception! Roy Budd rises to the groovy occasion and scores some excellent moments that match a light orchestral sound with a throbbing electric bass and percussion underground -- in a style that's like Lalo Schifrin's best work from the time. The LP's overflowing with tracks, including a few bonus mixes, and there's even 2 vocal numbers that feature The Three Degrees. Titles include "The Thief", "Beauty & The Bass", "Diamonds", "Party Piece", "Thief On the Prowl", and more! Nice notes, and some nicely funky crime themes, too!

Verushka

One of the most haunting Morricone soundtracks ever -- and one of the grooviest too! The album's a perfect blend of our two favorite styles of Morricone work -- that of the floating female vocal over a gentle groove, and the darker, tenser side of his music. The main "Verushka" theme is one of his most beautiful -- a variation of female vocals with a gentle edge, in the tradition of classic soundtracks like La Donna Invisible or Le Photo Proibite. This theme shifts from mood to mood over the course of the LP, occasionally giving way to some more atonal passages and other more jazz-based tunes -- more of which are included here than on the original release, thanks to an expanded reissue job by Right Tempo! In fact, the whole thing's bubbling over with great music -- one of the best Morricone reissues we've ever stocked -- done with great sound and a huge array of extra tracks! Titles include a number of takes on the "Verushka" theme, plus "Astratto", "La Bambola", "Le Fotografie", "Magia", "La Spiaggia", and "Dopo L'Intervista".

Jobim & Bonfa

One of the all time great ones! This mad bit of music was composed for the film by Luiz Bonfa and Antonio Carlos Jobim, and it's a crazy mix of batucada, samba, and a bit of bossa nova. The soundtrack takes all of the musical bits, and it mixes them up into an insane collage of sound effects, speaking, and music. It sounds incredible, and it's even more spooky than the movie. With loads of classics that you'll recognize -- but done in a crazy crazy way -- like "Felicidade", "O Nosso Amor", and "Manha De Carnaval". Plus, this CD also includes a 13-minute medley of tracks from the score, performed by Bola Sete at the 1966 Monterey Jazz Fest!

Hate

La Haine [Assasin] (Bleue Marine 1995)

When he was just twenty-nine years old, Mathieu Kassovitz took the international film world by storm with La haine (Hate), a gritty, unsettling, and visually explosive look at the racial and cultural volatility in modern-day France, specifically in the low-income banlieue districts on Paris’s outskirts. Aimlessly whiling away their days in the concrete environs of their dead-end suburbia, Vinz (Vincent Cassel), Hubert (Hubert Koundé), and Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui)—a Jew, an African, and an Arab—give human faces to France’s immigrant populations, their bristling resentment at their social marginalization slowly simmering until they reach a climactic boiling point. A work of tough beauty, La haine is a landmark of contemporary French cinema and a gripping reflection of its country’s ongoing identity crisis.

Sorcerer

"In a squalid South American oil town, four desperate men sign on for a suicide mission to drive trucks loaded with nitroglycerin over a treacherous mountain route. As they ferry their explosive cargo to a faraway oil fire, each bump and jolt tests their courage, their friendship, and their nerves. The result is one of the greatest thrillers ever committed to celluloid, a white-knuckle ride from France’s legendary master of suspense, Henri-Georges Clouzot."

2 more...

Very tight batch of crime jazz tracks composed by the great Piero Umiliani for this lost Klaus Kinski thriller. The material is played by some of Italy's best jazz players, and the tracks have nice sax solos, brassy riffs, organ lines, and even some cool flute and vibes. The reissue's got 17 tracks in all, with a motherlode of stuff that wasn't on the original soundtrack LP, and which all sounds great. If you dig jazz thriller soundtracks, this is one of the best we've heard, and the whole thing's put together with the usual high quality you'd expect from Easy Tempo. Tracks include "Apertura In Jazz", "Tema Dell'Addio", "Very Fast", and "Swing Come Sempre"

A fab little soundtrack from one of our favorite Italian composers -- a lost gem originally issued in 1971, with a very groovy sound! The score has Piero Umiliani picking up a bit more funk than usual -- working with electric bass and keyboards to come up with some totally great tracks that kind of pick up a sexy Euro funk groove from the Serge Gainsbourg generation, and give it some excellent soundtracky touches in terms of tone, color, and melody. The tracks are all pretty darn great -- bouncy, sunny, and with funk at just the right moments -- and a few nice numbers even have a bit of scatting vocals, an element that makes them all the more pleasing to our ears! Titles include "Mah Na Cowboy", "Holiday Inn", "Love In", "Il Mondo Dell Infanzia", "Luna Di Miele", "Pepito", and "La Nuova Frontiera".

Piero Umiliani & Buster Keaton

Piero Umiliani did the score for this strange film that was one of Buster Keaton's last -- and as you can imagine by the title, it's got a bit of a military theme! That theme is also touched heavily with Keaton's comedy -- and Umiliani's score responds, coming up with numbers that are a mix of parody marches, campy action themes, and a few more contemplative numbers. The overall style is certainly straighter than most of Umiliani's other work from the time, but it's still quite well-conceived -- and almost has the feel of an Italian soundtrack from a generation before. Titles include "Dedicato A Buster", "Dopo La Battaglia", "Arrivano I Marines", "Marcia Del Generale", "Marcetta Swing", and "I Due Marines". (Newly remastered edition.)

One of the coolest Italian soundtracks we've heard in a long time -- a wonderful set of tunes that moves from slinky, to easy, to groovy, and beyond! The tunes start out bubbling very spare and slow -- with floating piano, moog, and other nice bits -- and as the record progresses, the sound gets heavier, with some nice funky elements thrown into the mix! The whole thing's a brilliant exercise in understatement -- not only one of the best soundtracks by Umiliani from the 70s, but also a perfect example of why we dig Italian soundtracks so much! Titles include "Volto Di Donna", "La Prima Uscita", "La Rinuncia", "Senza Tregua", "Nostalgia", "The Party", and "Maryam"

"Sweetly funky and very slinky -- this is one of the best early 70s scores by the great Italian composer Piero Umiliani! The record has lots of bubbling electric piano, rumbling electric basslines, warm acoustic percussion, and moody wordless vocals. At some level, the album sounds a lot like the contemporaneous work by the great Italian Fender Rhodes combo Crossfire -- but it's also filled with a spacey madness that could only come from the pen of Umiliani! One of the best of the recent Easy Tempo reissues -- and very nicely put together, with a consistent sound throughout! Titles include "The Body", "Tidal Stream", "Chaser", "White Sand", "In The End", "Free Life", "Stream", and "Dusken"

Piero Umiliani 3 Days Tribute

"Very cool, very groovy soundtrack from this Italian film about Satanic ritual and demonic possession. The great Piero Umiliani serves up a wide-ranging batch of tracks, from groovy vocal pop tracks (with vocals by Shirley Hammer), to spooky funky instrumentals with a sort of "haunted feel", to some surprisingly-placed Brazilian tracks (recorded in Brazil, with performances by Wilson Das Neves!) Insane stuff, but wildly entertaining throughout, and with a mix of material that runs from jazzy, to easy, to downright groovy. 23 tracks in all, and in a great package! Score another hit for the Easy Tempo crew!"
